Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works to help you bring about positive changes in your life. It can help you understand and challenge thoughts and behaviours that may be holding you back or preventing you from living the life you want.

Focusing on the solution and not the problem means that you can identify what it is you want to move forward with and change those negative patterns of thought to more positive, productive and happier one’s. Helping your mind find peace.

Anxiety

If you are struggling with anxiety on a day to day basis, it can feel incredibly overwhelming. It can prevent us doing the things we want to do and restrict our enjoyment of life, There can be feel physical symptoms like IBS, or panic attacks/palpitations and it might feel like we are destined to live our lives this way, stuck in the same cycles. Our brains do a wonderful job of keeping us safe from real life threats but they can also keep us safe from the things that we don’t need them to. Our brains don’t know the difference between imagination or reality so an imagined threat to our safety might feel like its real and its happening now. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is known to be a very popular form of therapy for people with anxiety as it works to help you understand it, the neuroscience around it, what might be holding you back and what we can do about it. We all deserve all life of joy and happiness, free from the chains of anxious thought patterns and restrictive behaviours.

Stress

Stress can be a great thing, it keeps us motivated and gets us doing the things we need to do. Stress is an everyday thing, a fact of life. We can’t avoid it, it's any change that you must adapt to, ranging from negative stress like actual physical danger or break ups to positive stress like achieving success or falling in love. Even the most well managed life can have a continuous stream of stressful experiences. It is how we respond to the stressful event. 4 sources of stress that demand us to adjust: Environment… this can be noise, traffic, weather etc. Social… deadlines, bills, loss of a loved one, demands for your time. Physiological… Menopause/hormonal changes, illness, aging, lack of sleep/exercise These can all tax the body, The fourth is OUR THOUGHTS….. How our brains interpret our present and our thoughts of the future, can either relax us or send us into a bit of a spin. Research has shown that stress begins with your appraisal of a situation. You assess by asking how dangerous/difficult it is and what resources do you have to cope. So if you have a full stress bucket (this is also known as the hippocampus, where all our learned habits and behaviours are stored), and you are feeling anxious or stressed, you will have decided that the situation is too dangerous/difficult or painful and that you don't have the resources to cope. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works by understanding your stress and lifting the lid on your hippocampus, we work on the parts of your life that you can control and enjoy, help build resilience, focus on your future in a more positive way and get to work on your REM sleep which helps empty the hippocampus (stress bucket) and improve sleep patterns in general.

OCD

This condition involves obsessive thoughts and compulsions that impact your day to day life. It is thought that 1 in 50 of us have experienced this at some point in our lives. Mostly we can rationalise the thoughts and move on however when a person has an unusually high amount of stress or anxiety in their lives then OCD habits or rituals become a way of coping with the stress and gaining some control. However, it soon becomes an obsessive habit and the sufferer then finds it has taken over their lives. OCD can usually manifest itself in one of the following ways: Intrusive thoughts – these can sometimes be frightening and completely irrational. Rituals – these can include checking and re-checking of light switches, gas hobs, candles, locked doors etc… These thoughts lead to high levels of stress and anxiety and sometimes irrational behaviours. While performing these actions gives temporary relief to the anxiety felt, it is short lived and the urge to perform the actions soon returns.

Confidence

Confidence is a learned skill, a habit that we can create. It isn't something that people inherently have or don't have. Maybe the thought of standing in a room full of people makes you feel anxious or having to make a speech/presentation sends you into a bit of a spin and you think ‘oh I could never do that, i’m just not that type of person’ - You absolutely can!! Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help you build your confidence and self esteem by creating, and reinforcing positive, new neural pathways, supporting you with working on small achievable goals and helping you let go of the negative thoughts that might be holding you back or stopping you from doing the things you want.

Low Mood / Overwhelm

We can all experience low moods and overwhelm, but if you frequently experience them or have longer periods, it might feel like life is more difficult to deal with or a constant series of challenges. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help you by first, getting to grips with sleep cycles, then start to work on small steps to help you feel more ‘you’ again. When we shift our focus to the good, the good gets better. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy isn’t about changing you, it’s about helping you discover the life you want and how to find joy in it.

IBS

There are many uncomfortable symptoms of IBS and unfortunately someone suffering with IBS can find themselves isolating from friends and family or social events, this can lead to a loss of confidence and self-esteem. It is not uncommon for sufferers to develop symptoms of anxiety or depression. By using a combination of talking therapy and hypnosis we can reduce feelings of anxiety and stress thereby increasing confidence and your overall wellbeing. It is important that you see your GP and get a formal diagnosis of IBS before treatment can commence.

Phobias

Most phobias or fears can be resolved in 4 sessions however some phobias can’t be helped so quickly, such as emetophobia, claustrophobia or agoraphobia. These types of phobias are usually experienced when a person has a lot of stress or anxiety in their life. This can build up over time and manifest into a condition that can limit or restrict your enjoyment of life. In this instance we would work together to reduce the stress and/or anxiety using talking therapy and hypnosis. Once we have reduced the anxiety to a sufficient degree, we would approach resolving the phobia / fear directly. If you would like to discuss your fear or phobia please contact me either via my contact form or call and we can discuss the best route for you.
